E|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------| Nobody knows you Jimmy Cox E|----------------------------------------------------------------| 1923---------------Tabbed by: Mike Lydiat E-mail: mike@docsworkshop.co.uk Tuning:EADGBE This version is based on that of Scrapper Blackwell from 1928: To play along to the video (in ALMOST the correct key) put your Capo on fret 2. It has twice as many verses as the Clapton version and is much slower. It also has a more complicated chord pattern with Dm9, D9 and F#dim. Notice that Dm9 and D9 differ only in the bass note used - you can get a nice bass run up from F (Dm9) to F# (D9) to G (G6) if you wrap your thumb around. You should be able to find the little extra guitar phrases Scrapper Blackwell uses from the different chords given here.VERSE CHORD SHAPES C E7 A7 F Dm9 F#dim D9 G6 E|-0--0--3--1--0---2-----0--0--| B|-1--3--2--1--1---1-----1--3--| G|-0--1--0--2--2---2-----2--0--| D|-2--0--2--3--0---1-----0--0--| A|-3--2--0--3--x---x-----x--2--| E|-x--0--x--1--1---x-----2--3--|[Verse 1]C E7 A7 Once I lived the life of a millionaireF A7 Dm9 Spending my money, I didn't careF F#dim C A7 Taking my friends out for a mighty good timeDm9 D9 G6 Bootleg liquor, and champagne wineC E7 A7 Then I got busted and I fell so lowF A7 Dm9 I didn't have no money, and no place to goF F#dim C A7 This is the truth - without any doubtDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and outDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and out [Verse 2]C E7 A7 The other day I asked a man for my rentF A7 Dm9 He told me all the money he had spentF F#dim C A7 I did my best to try one or twoDm9 D9 G6 That's everything that a man could do.C E7 A7 Nobody let me have one lousy dimeF A7 Dm9 I not care - worry now all the timeF F#dim C A7 I tell you this is true - without any doubtDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and outDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and out [Verse 3]C E7 A7 If I ever get my hands on a dollar againF A7 Dm9 I'm gonna hold onto it 'til the eagles grinF F#dim C A7 I would try and get for one little houseDm9 D9 G6 Nobody knows you when you're down and outC E7 A7 Lord I'll try for another dayF A7 Dm9 To make my troubles in my own wayF F#dim C A7 I tell you true - without any doubtDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and outDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and out [Verse 4]C E7 A7 F A7 Dm9 Nobody knows you when you're down and outF F#dim C A7 In your pocket not one pennyDm9 D9 G6 You look for friends - you haven't anyC E7 A7 If you ever get back on your feet againF A7 Dm9 Then you'll meet your long lost friendsF F#dim C A7 It's mighty strange, without any doubtDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and outDm9 D9 G6 C Nobody knows you when you down and out
