C I'm gonna tell you this story that I once readF About this cowboy who was a little messed up in the headD7 G For starters he went by this weirdo name of OdysseusC Now Odysseus weren't no cowboy nameF But he sure could play that cowboy gameD7 G An' he could rope and ride and he could throw a real mean discusC Well he was headed home from some far-off landF Like Mississippi or TexarkanaD7 G He was tryin' to get to Ithaca in New York StateC Met this dude named Poseidon that almost drowned himF But this chick named Ino came along and found himD7 G I... I didn't really get that part anywayC Well he met this girl named Circe, you knowF She was all hot and bothered and ready to goD7 G She invited all of his friends on over for supperC Turned his buddies into pigs and that's a fact F [stop] So he made love to her and she turned 'em backD7 G C I guess he was pretty good in the sack or somethin'F C G C Odysseus, why did you have to go?F C G G/A G/A# G/B Odysseus, whatever did you know?E Am F Odysseus was hard, Odysseus was fastC G C That cowboy could really kick some ass [G O]C Well he wasn't really sure which way to headF So for directions he went to the kingdom of the deadD7 G I ain't sure were that is but it sounds like FloridaC His mama lived there and she said hiF He said no mama, I'm here to see this other guyD7 G She said well, you're a real find son, then, aren't you?C Finally he found this guy that knew the wayF He said, "Now listen close to what I gotta sayD7 G It's a long hard ride and you probably never even get thereC And all these friends of yours, they're all a-gonna dieF And all you're gonna wanna do is sit and cry?"D7 G C And Odysseus said, "Now, hold up, dude... I make a left where?"F C G C Odysseus, why did you have to go?F C G G/A G/A# G/B Odysseus, whatever did you know?E Am F Odysseus was hard, Odysseus was fastC G C That cowboy could really kick some ass [G O]C So he packed his bags and he saddled upF And he was headed out of town past his little clubD7 G And from inside he heard this chick band called The SirensC Well he wanted to stay and hear a fewF But his buddies said, "No, man, we gotta move"D7 G So he threw this big old tantrum then he got on back to ridin'C When he got home all of these men were thereF Eatin' all the food from his FrigidaireD7 G And not just two or three, but like forty-somethin'C They was hittin' on his wife and makin' a sceneF So he killed them all and got away cleanD7 G Didn't even have to do community service or nothin'C His wife said, "I been so faithful babe?"F D7 G And he said, "Uh..., uh..., me tooC Except for that girl in that cave and a couple moreF And that beautiful woman on that island shoreD7 G C Anyways, baby, I been so thankful in my heart"F C G C Odysseus, why did you have to go?F C G G/A G/A# G/B Odysseus, whatever did you know?E Am F Odysseus was hard, Odysseus was fastC G C That cowboy could really kick some assC G C That cowboy could really kick some ass
